Motherboard Replacement-Dell Inspiron 9300 Laptop
Our first client to utilize our new ticketed helpdesk sytem submitted to us a laptop with A/C adapter issues. The client had two identical machines, one of which is his Wife’s, and both had the same issue. They had taken her machine to someone to re-solder the a/c plug on the motherboard, which had gotten loose. However, they said that the issue was not completely resolved.
In this case, our Client is a traveling architect who needed assistance fast. We took his machine and offered him a loaner for him to take on a last minute business trip to Antiqua. We replaced the motherboard on the machine and the problem has been resolved completely. Initially the client requested soldering service, however we do not offer that because of quality issues as noted above!
Although we had asked if there was a green light on the adapter brick (which there was) to him prior to taking in the maching – it turned out that the brick was indeed bad and not powering any laptops with a 90W power supply. This issue is actually known to happen with the Dell bricks, as there is a wire right before the plug that often gets lose (if you look in the center you’ll see a pin delivering power to the mainboard).
