Notebook Reliability

Notebooks have a history of falling short of a lifespan of a traditional desktop PC. Even the newly minted Netbooks can not escape from the disaster. In fact they seem to be even more unreliable.I don’t want to give too much away, but it is an interesting read for people who are weighing their options. The research was done by a third party, independent company called Square Trade, Inc. They are a great company to buy all kinds of warranties for your electronics.

Interestingly, the netbooks also come with windows XP. Why? If Windows 7 truly has a lighter “footprint” than Vista, shouldn’t these netbooks be able to handle it?
It also lends me to wonder how long we will see XP coming on brand new machines.
